About
I began practicing yoga at my local YWCA a year before my 40th birthday, and eventually started going to studio classes. For some time now, I’ve been attending the Saturday “Good Morning” class at Avenues Yoga in Salt Lake City, taught by Erin Menut.
In the past I practiced yoga at the Soma Yoga Studio in Salt Lake City, and the best teacher I ever had was Peter Franczyk. I was sad when that studio closed.
I started teaching beginner hatha yoga classes at Wasatch Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City about four years ago. I’ll be ending that in November 2010 to move on to other things.
In February 2010 I attended a 20-hour training taught by renowned restorative yoga teacher Judith Hansen Lasater in Salt Lake City and received my Relax & Renew Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Certificate in June 2010.
Last year I attended a very intensive Anusara workshop by B.J. Galvan called “The Magic of Alignment.” I’m a little scared of Anusara yoga because it takes me out of my comfort zone, but I spent two days in her care and I came out an even better person.
I attended a Yoga Journal Conference in Estes Park, Colorado, in September 2008. Not only did I spend a couple days learning about the “business of yoga,” but I rested and relaxed in a 3-hour restorative yoga class; learned how to teach pranayama with Aadil Palkhivala; experienced the wisdom and teachings of John Friend in a meditation & pranayama workshop; attended a chair yoga class with Elise Miller; and stretched out of my comfort zone under the expert teachings of Jason Crandall. It was a life-changing and awe-inspiring experience, and I met the most wonderful people.
My ongoing career goals are to teach restorative and chair yoga to women and seniors over 50 and those with chronic illnesses and limitations. Let me share my gift with you as I learn and continue to grow in this practice and in teaching you to rest, relax, and become stronger.
